This page provides a repository of all the old What’s New entries for 2026, in reverse chronological order. If you really have a desire for the older entries, then the links below will get you access to all those that I’ve saved. They are unlikely to be of any great interest, but do provide a picture of how the site has developed over the twenty-six and a half years it has been here. Please bear in mind that links to external sites may have atrophied over time and thus you may see ‘not found’ or similar errors when trying to follow them, especially the further back in time the link was first created.
20 Jun 2026
PLEASE NOTE that Sunday’s game at Chipstead, Couldson & Walcountians will be starting a little later than usual due to the London to Brighton Ride that passes outside the entrance to the ground that morning. The fixtures page has been updated accordingly.
Our tenth visit to Woodmansterne to play the home side and a very good run chase that resulted in our fifth win of the young season. The usual summarised details of the game can be found on the results page along with a statistical notes only match report, the detailed scorecard, and the traditional Badgers’ focused scorecard.
11 Jun 2026
A first ever game against Woodside Green and almost certainly our first ever visit to Addiscombe Cricket Club’s ground (we once played against them back in 1963 but that game was at Rose Hill) saw the Badgers notch up another good win, protecting what felt like a close to par score. The usual summarised details of the game can be found on the results page along with a statistical notes only match report, the detailed scorecard, and the traditional Badgers’ focused scorecard.
4 Jun 2026
PLEASE NOTE that Darrell has found us a fixture for this coming weekend, in the shape of Woodside Green, a new opponent to the Badgers but one that Goldie apparently has some familiarity with from his CACC days. Usual details, including map links, can be found on the fixtures page.
29 May 2026
PLEASE NOTE that we are unable to raise a team for this coming Sunday and thus have had to disappoint Hook & Southborough. Things are not looking all that much better for the following couple of weeks either so please make sure that you update the availability spreadsheet whenever you are able.
A baking hot day on Headley Heath saw the Badgers return to play there for the first time in fifteen years and notch up our third win of the season. The usual summarised details of the game can be found on the results page along with a statistical notes only match report, the detailed scorecard, and the traditional Badgers’ focused scorecard.
23 May 2026
PLEASE NOTE that Darrell has found us a fixture for this coming Sunday when we will be making a return visit to Headley Heath for the first time since the 2011 season. Usual details, including map links, can be found on the fixtures page.
Our latest visit to Dormansland, for the 63rd contest between the two sides, took place last Sunday in conditions much more conducive to a game of cricket, and watching same, than the previous week on Ham Common. The usual summarised details of the game can be found on the results page along with a statistical notes only match report, the detailed scorecard, and the traditional Badgers’ focused scorecard.
16 May 2026
A bitterly cold Ham Common saw the Badgers fall to their first defeat of the season last Sunday in a high scoring contest. The usual summarised details of the game can be found on the results page along with a statistical notes only match report, the detailed scorecard, and the traditional Badgers’ focused scorecard.
PLEASE NOTE that I have also updated the previous statistical notes to reflect the fact that Mark’s diving one handed catch at slip in the Churchleigh game was his 500th catch for the club in games that counted towards the averages. Quite why this feat was not on my list of pending milestones I cannot say, but my apologies to the skipper for not acknowledging it at the time.
3 May 2026
Sadly today’s game at Long Ditton had to be cancelled earlier in the week due to our inability to raise a team.
A return trip to Churchleigh, in the verdant surroundings of Greatpark in Chelsham near Warlingham, after last year’s maiden visit, got the new season off to a green and pleasant start. The usual summarised details of the game can be found on the results page along with a statistical notes only match report, the detailed scorecard, and the traditional Badgers’ focused scorecard.
The start of a new season brings significant changes to the site, many of them hidden under the covers, and whilst the process is almost entirely automated these days it is still possible that problems creep in so please let me know if you spot anything that looks to be awry.
26 Apr 2026
The 2026 season should begin this afternoon and I have rather belatedly managed to get the fixtures added to both our Play-Cricket site and the fixtures page here.
The next update to the site will not be until after the first game of the season has been played, at which point everything can roll over to the new season by adding pages for the 2026 week-to-week detail.
