22nd July 2000 – the Badgers leave the field after beating Ewhurst by 71 runs
(see the match report and
scorecard for more details). This
was Darrell’s first match for the Badgers, and he certainly looks as if he
enjoyed himself. He may be the youngest player ever to turn out for the Badgers,
at ten years and six days old, but no one is sure exactly when Mark Gordon
played his first ever game, so the ‘record’ remains uncertain. He is definitely
the first third generation Badger, not just because of the Butt connection
detailed in the other picture in this
pair, but also because his grandfather, Laurence Pitts, was one of the founder
members of the club and played for the first 19 seasons.
